Hola! I’m Astrid—author y poet, former certified professional coach, amante de las palabras, las risas, and BIG hoops.

HOW IT STARTED : MY STORY

Hola, I’m Astrid Ferguson (she/her/hers)—author, poet, former podcaster, and Certified Professional Coach. I’m a self-published writer who learned the art (and hustle) of storytelling by doing—drafting, editing, releasing, and trusting my voice along the way. My work lives at the intersection of joy, grief, identity, and becoming who we were always meant to be.

Before fully leaning into writing, I spent years as a professional coach and Energy Leadership Index Master Practitioner (iPEC). While I’m no longer in active coaching practice, that work deeply informs how I write: with reflection, intention, and a deep belief that joy is not just the destination—it’s part of the work. Through both lived experiences and professional training, I’ve learned that joy can be both the struggle y la respuesta when moving beyond trauma, grief, and survival mode. That belief is at the heart of my course Choosing Joy After a Long Year of Grief, and it continues to guide my writing as I explore what it means to let go of who we’re not and return to ourselves.

I hold degrees in Business Information Systems and an MBA, and I have spent almost two decades in Corporate Pharma—navigating boardrooms and systems as a Latinx woman of color. Those experiences shape my perspective and show up in my poetry and prose, where I explore how trauma, identity, mental health mindsets, family principals, and power intersect in everyday life.

When I’m not writing, you’ll find me refereeing life with my two boys, discovering foundations of art with my artistic husband, Jerel Ferguson, or holding space for deeper connections. I’ve moderated panels and workshops on topics from overcoming trauma to embracing our voices as emerging writers on the page.

Now that you’re here—hola, es un placer conocerte!

Welcome, friend.

Let’s discuss joy, truth, and becoming.
